‘He would have been so proud...’
This month, on 23 May, marks five years since our founder Johan Nije passed away. In losing the father and father-in-law to our directors Jeroen Nije and Saskia and Dennis van Dijk, we also lost a visionary entrepreneur in every sense. Although he retired in 2012, Johan remained closely involved with Nijdra for many years. The new directors were able to develop the company further, drawing on his extensive knowledge and experience as well as his clear insights.
The first few years without Johan's support were difficult and emotional. Yet, the company had to move forward. And it has, because his spirit and ideas continue to influence the way we work. We are sure he would have been very proud of the choices we made and of what we have accomplished. First and foremost, of course – and what a shame that he could not have been there – is our 50th anniversary that we have been celebrating since November and at which we presented our very own Nijdra magazine.
Everything up to date
But there is more! Looking back over the past five years, we see that, together with our loyal employees, we have been able to take our wonderful family-owned company to an even higher level. We have modernised all our premises, inside and out. We have coated floors, climate control, solar panels on the roofs, LED lighting and excellent working conditions. Following in Johan's footsteps, we have chosen to reinvest a large proportion of our profits. Especially when it comes to machinery. Over the years we have expanded our capacity and ensured that it is technically up to date. Not forgetting the four cutting-edge turning and milling machines we recently installed, bringing the very latest technology and techniques into our workshop.
Confidence in the future
Our confidence in the future stems from our ability to retain existing clients and gain growing numbers of new customers at home and abroad. Nijdra is successful in 2025; we are a trustworthy name in the world of precision engineered components and mechatronic modules. We still miss Johan every day. We are grateful for what he started and for his legacy, and that is why we can look to the future with confidence.
