Nijdra Group at the 25th Precision Fair

News

from regional meeting place to high-tech ecosystem, with the same family spirit

On 18 and 19 November 2026, Nijdra Group will once again exhibit at the Precision Fair in the Brabanthallen in ’s-Hertogenbosch. This is the event’s 25th edition and Nijdra’s twentieth consecutive appearance. The family business from Middenbeemster has been a regular exhibitor at this specialist trade fair since 2006. Over those years, the Precision Fair has grown from a regional meeting place into the annual gathering for the high-tech and ultra-precision ecosystem, bringing together more than 400 exhibitors and over 6,500 professionals. During the same period, Nijdra has undergone a similar transformation: from a precision machining subcontractor into a fully fledged system supplier, with customers in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. What has remained is the personal approach.

From regional trade fair to international platform

When Mikrocentrum launched the Precision Fair a quarter of a century ago, it was primarily a meeting place for a relatively small, close-knit sector. Today, it is where OEMs, system suppliers, specialist suppliers, engineering companies and research and educational institutions connect. The focus is firmly on high-tech, Big Science and the technologies that support them: mechatronics, metrology, motion, precision engineering, lasers and photonics, materials, vacuum and clean technology. Keynotes on topics including TNO’s UltraAir laser link, strategic resilience in Europe’s high-tech industry and picometre-scale measurement for ESA’s LISA mission underline that ambition.

At the same time, the familiar atmosphere has endured. The Brabanthallen remain the established venue, a conversation at the stand still carries more weight than a datasheet, and many visitors and exhibitors have known each other for years. The fair has become more international, with a growing share of visitors and delegations from outside the Netherlands, while retaining its regional feel. This combination makes the 25th edition particularly relevant: looking back on 25 years of technological progress and ahead to what needs to be manufacturable tomorrow.

From machining subcontractor to system supplier

That development mirrors Nijdra’s own journey. The company was founded in Amsterdam in 1947 as a conventional turning workshop. In 1974, it adopted the name Nijdra, combining the family name Nije with the Dutch word “draaierij”, meaning turning workshop. The business expanded through CNC turning and milling, grinding to an accuracy of one thousandth of a millimetre and the introduction of assembly in the 1990s. Around the opening of its current headquarters in Middenbeemster in 2003, the emphasis shifted further towards co-engineering, assembly and testing. This established Nijdra as a fully fledged system supplier.

Since Nijdra began exhibiting at the Precision Fair in 2006, that role has continued to expand. Today, the company manages the entire chain: from early supplier involvement and value engineering to machining in automated and robotic cells, cleanroom assembly, testing, validation and supply chain management. Customers order under a single part number; Nijdra delivers fully assembled and tested modules or benchtop systems, sometimes directly to the OEM’s end customer. Exports account for more than half of turnover, with a strong position among customers in Germany and Switzerland. Nijdra serves high-tech markets including the (bio)medical, analytical, optical, pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries. In these sectors, precision is often literally a matter of life and death.

The family spirit remains

Three generations on, Nijdra is still a family business, with locations in Middenbeemster and Heerhugowaard and certification to ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001. The scale is larger, the projects more complex and the market more international, but the way the company works with its customers has stayed the same. Long-term relationships, one point of contact and input from the design stage remain the foundations. This is also why the Precision Fair has been a regular date in the diary for twenty years. The fair has grown from a regional event into a platform with an international outlook; Nijdra has grown from a machining subcontractor into a system supplier with German and Swiss customers. Both have held on to what sets the sector apart: direct communication, craftsmanship and the sense of knowing the people you work with.

On 18 and 19 November, from 10:00 to 17:00 at the Brabanthallen, Nijdra will show what this combination delivers: micron-accurate components, mechatronic modules and complete systems for the high-tech industry. Visitors are welcome to catch up on ongoing projects, discuss new developments in co-engineering and assembly, or simply continue the conversation that began in 2006.
